Here is our weekly update of events and information for Greystone Centennial Middle School.
New Principal Next Year
We are happy to announce that Scott Jaspers-Fayer has been named the new Principal of Greystone for the 2024-2025 school year. He is coming to us from his position as Assistant Principal at Woodhaven this year. You can see the full announcement here.
Cell Phone Policy Review
Our new Cell Phone and Technology comes into effect on June 1st. You can read the full policy here. The main points of our new cell phone and technology policy are as follows:
- Cell phones should be kept in lockers during school hours including recess and lunch.
- Students will have 2 periods of 2 minutes per day to check their cell phones and respond to important messages.
- Students caught in violation of this rule will have their cell phones confiscated for the day.
- Any other technology that is being used as a distraction from school work will be confiscated for the day.
- Students will still be reachable at any time by calling the office.
Choir Provincials
Both House of Harmony and our Senior Choir will be heading to the Alberta Choral Provincials this upcoming week. House of Harmony performs on Thursday, May 30th at 10:00am at McDougall Church. Senior Choir performs on Friday, May 31st at 10:00am at McDougall Church. Tickets for the event are $5.00 and they only accept cash. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Putt
Greystone's Got Talent
On Monday, June 3rd, join us in the Greystone gymnasium for Greystone's Got Talent. This year we have a variety of acts from all grade levels. Parents are welcome to come watch and the event starts at 2:30.
Senior Choir-Year End Concert
On Monday, June 3rd our Senior choir will be joining Ecole Meridian, and Memorial Composite High School at Horizon Stage for our final concert. The event starts at 7:00pm, with doors opening at 6:40pm. Tickets can be purchased through Memorial Composite High School.
Musical Instruments - Donation
Our independent music option is very popular and needs your support. We are looking for electric guitars and small amplifiers. If you have a guitar or amp that you are no longer using, please consider donating them to the school for our students to use as they learn to play. Instruments can be donated to the main office or by contacting Mrs. Putt.
Try-Me Try-Athlon
Online registration for the 8th Annual Try-Me Try-Athlon opens on May 10. This is a great event that promotes healthy physical activity. For more information, visit the Try-Athlon Website.

Yearbooks will be delivered to GCMS in the fall, and will be distributed once they arrive. Students moving onto other endeavors, we can arrange pick-up at the school once they have arrived.
