Inferno News: February 14, 2025

Here is this week's edition of Inferno News. Just a reminder that there is no school Monday due to family day

CUPE Strike Notice

All parents should have received an email from the Parkland School Division today regarding labour action. As of now, CUPE has communicated intent to work-to-rule beginning Tuesday. This change will have some small effects on some extracurricular programming such as certain clubs or activities, but will not affect school operations or student support currently being provided. However, things could change quickly and further information will be communicated accordingly. If you did not receive the email earlier today, please read it here.

French Winter Carnival

On Wednesday, February 19th from 9:25am - 12:30pm the grade 5 & 6 students are participating in the French winter festival “Carnaval” hosted by the grade 7-9 French classes. The stations will include: crêpes, sled races, snowshoeing, winter games, “tire” or maple taffy with Les Bûcherons, Carnival games, ball hockey, and French dance/music. These activities will be taking place inside and outside so we ask that your child be dressed appropriately for the weather including: ski-pants, winter jacket, mittens/gloves, hat, scarf and winter boots. Students may also dress up in their favourite flannel shirt and toque!

Should you have any questions, please feel free to email leigh.wolitski@psd.ca

Kabul Market!

On Wednesday, February 26, during blocks 4 and 5, the halls of Greystone will come alive with the energy of a bustling market as 6M and 6N present the Kabul Market!

Students have been learning about Parvana, a young girl living in Kabul who must become the breadwinner for her family in order to survive. This experience will bring their learning to life as they recreate the vibrant atmosphere of a traditional market.

A variety of items will be available for purchase at $1 or $2, with all proceeds going toward our end-of-year field trip. Families are warmly invited to attend and support our students. Any remaining items will be available for purchase during recess on Thursday, February 27.

Thank you for your support—we hope to see you there!
