Here is our weekly update of events and information for Greystone Centennial Middle School. 

Report Cards Released Today

As mentioned earlier this month, our January report card was released today, but will look a little different than previous years. As we have fully shifted to continuous reporting, where teachers update grades throughout the year, students and families have the ability to stay informed on progress throughout the year. Because of this, you will only see a general comment on the report card, subject marks as a percentage, and will only receive subject feedback if your child is supported by an IEP or is struggling in that subject area. To find subject specific information, please visit the PowerSchool App to get a much more thorough understanding of your child's progress in a particular subject area where you can review individual assignments and assignment comments. If you have questions about your child's grade or progress, please reach out to your child's teacher.

Running Room Games

Our annual Running Room Indoor Games relay teams have been selected, and students are busy training for their big race! The event will take place on Friday, February 21st, at the U of A Butterdome. Parents are welcome to attend and cheer them on.

No Ski and Snowboard Club Next Week

There is no ski or snowboard club next week due to the shortened week due to the Teachers Convention.

Snow Fort Building

Thank you to Greystone parent Micah de Boer for running a snow fort building activity all day for physical education! It was great weather and was enjoyed by our students!

PAT Reminder - Dates and Weights - Repeat

This was sent out earlier this year, but just a reminder that PSD as a whole has shifted to grade 6 and 9 PATs being compulsory and will be worth 10% of the final grade for grade 6 exams and 20% for grade 9 exams. Grade 6 science is a new curriculum and the province has decided to not complete the PAT for this subject. The dates are as follows:

Boston Pizza Fundraiser - repeat

FOGS has also started a campaign with Boston Pizza called Operation Education. All receipts from January 1st until the last day of school can be submitted to the office and the school will get a rebate of 5% from it. So all family and friends that eat at BPs can submit their receipt, it has to be the original receipt (no photocopies) and cannot include buying gift cards or alcohol.

Scholastic - repeat

Books with is the theme for Scholastic book orders Feb 13 for free shipping to the school.
