Fee Reminder - repeat
This is a general reminder that all fees for 2024-2025 are now due. Please touch base with Shelley Robinson in the office if you need assistance with payment. Unfortunately, we still have over $20,000 of unpaid fees this year, and is this having an operational impact at the school. Please call the office if you need to make payment plan arrangements.
Year End PowerSchool Access - repeat
As we wrap up the year, our teachers will be completing year end report cards. To do this, we need to turn off access to PowerSchool so parents can enter comments and finalize grades. PowerSchool will be shut down from parent and student viewing as of June 12, end of day. We will reopen this on the last day of school, on June 26.
Student Recognition & Awards Ceremony
The Ceremony is separated into two sections - Grade 5-8 will take place in the gym on June 25 beginning at 9:15 am; The grade 9 ceremony will be embedded in their Farewell Ceremony that happens that same afternoon beginning around 1:30 pm.
With the change in report cards (from descriptor to percentage reporting) we have made some adjustments to our recognition criteria. Here is an overview:
Academic Achievement: Honors (80%-89%) & Honors with Distinction (90% & Higher) in the following categories: STEM (Math/Sci); Humanities (LA/SS); PE-Health; Grade 5/6 Music; Grade 5/6 French. We hope to add Junior High Supplementary Courses next year.
Sports Extra-Curricular - STAR Awards: Students who have participated in 2 or more of our extra-curricular sports teams throughout the school year.
Inferno Improvement Award: Students who have shown growth/improvement in academics, motivation and/or attitude through the school year
Greystone Citizenship/Leadership Award: Students who demonstrate leadership both inside and outside of the classroom, including being helpful around the school; having positive interactions with staff and students; or showing resilience and courage through a difficult situation

Counsellor's Corner
AHH... June is here. It can be a super busy month with finishing up the school year and summer holidays right around the corner. Endings and transitions can be a challenging time for our youth. Self advocacy is a helpful skill that will encourage your child to reach out for help when they need it. Here is a great article for parents that shares some tips to help kids make successful transitions to their next grade or schools. I have also included a little teaser of the first tip. Have a great summer!!
1. ENCOURAGE SELF-ADVOCACY.
Self-advocacy is one of the most important skills your teen will learn over the next few years. Speaking up for himself or herself and knowing how to ask for what they need is a critical, lifelong skill. Your teen can only learn it if you make an intentional effort to back away and let him or her step up to the plate.
