Nov. 7: Inferno Weekly Update

Here is our weekly update of events and information for Greystone Centennial Middle School.

Remembrance Day Ceremony

We will be holding our School Remembrance Day ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 10th at 10:30 am in the school gym. We will have a member of the Canadian Armed Forces present to speak to everyone about the importance of Remembrance Day. We will also have a bagpiper, a performance by our choir, and students who will participate in our Honour Guard.

This ceremony is open to all Greystone Community members. Please join us.

Remembrance Day & Fall Break - No School

There is no school on Remembrance Day (Nov. 11) and during our Fall Break that runs from Nov. 14-18. School will be back in session on Monday, Nov. 21st.

Bus Driver Recruitment Event

Have you ever wondered what it is like to drive a yellow school bus? Here is the chance to try it for yourself!

Transportation Services is assisting with a recruitment event where you can try driving a school bus. So, if you have ever wanted to drive a bus or thought you never could, this is the event for you! Come and give it a try—you’ll be surprised just how easy driving a large vehicle can be, plus you will learn more about how rewarding it is to transport children and youth to/from school.

  • Date: November 14, 2022
  • Time: 9 a.m.–3 p.m.
  • Location: Memorial Composite High School (50 Westerra Centre, Stony Plain).

For more information, see the event page on the PSD website.

Notice of Outbreak - Respiratory Illness

AHS has declared an Outbreak at Greystone for Respiratory Illness due to a large amount of absences related to illness. This Outbreak status has been extended until Nov. 7th. They are asking families to be aware of symptoms that students may show and to follow some precautions to reduce the spread of illness in the school. Please read their Notice of Respiratory Illness Outbreak letter.

The school will also be putting in some additional measures to break the illness transmission cycle. These measures focus on cleaning and the choice of activities at school. If you have any questions, please contact the office.

Kinette Christmas Donations

Greystone is getting into the Christmas spirit early this year to collect monetary donations, grocery gift cards, store gift cards for teens/children (11-17 years old), and unused/unwrapped toys (Children 10 years and under) for families in our community. Gift cards in the denominations of $25 from local businesses work the best. Please remember that no food items will be collected this year.

We need your support more than ever! Many families are going through difficult times, and we are inviting our Greystone students to spread some cheer to them during this season of giving. Our Greystone deadline for all gift cards/donations and toys is Wednesday, December 7. Thank you so much for your help!

Friends of Greystone Society is excited to announce our 2022 50/50 Cash Raffle. FOGS fundraising is in support of many school initiatives. This year we are raising money for the construction of the Gaga Ball Pit and the replacement of the Gym mats to meet current standards with the new GCMS logo.
