Oct. 31: Inferno Weekly Update

Here is our weekly update of events and information for Greystone Centennial Middle School.

Halloween / Spookapalooza Information

We are happy to announce the return of Spookapalooza on Monday, Oct. 31. This is a fun afternoon of activities on the day of Halloween. Students have a choice in the activities that they participate in over the afternoon, including a $2 dance (with a professional DJ). Students will be able to select one activity in each one-hour block or stay in one activity all afternoon.

Students are welcome to wear their costumes in the afternoon. Costumes should be appropriate for a school setting (no offensive logos, slogans, etc. ). No weapons (even fake ones) can be brought to school. Additionally, all masks need to be removable.

Bring Your Own Device Information

The volume of students forgetting their devices or having devices not charged and ready for class has increased tremendously this year. Here are some tips for ensuring that technology is available when needed:

  • establish a routine for charging devices
  • have a charging station set up in the home
  • charge Chromebooks at home in the evening
  • bring your device with you to school each morning
  • leave chargers at home (many have been lost already)
  • put your name on the device and charger

Notice of Outbreak - Respiratory Illness

AHS has declared an Outbreak at Greystone for Respiratory Illness due to a large number of absences related to illness. They are asking families to be aware of symptoms that students may show and to follow some precautions to reduce the spread of illness in the school. Please read their Notice of Respiratory Illness Outbreak letter.

The school will also be putting in some additional measures to break the illness transmission cycle. These measures focus on cleaning and the choice of activities at school. If you have any questions, please contact the office.

Kinette Christmas Donations

Greystone is getting into the Christmas spirit early this year to collect monetary donations, grocery gift cards, store gift cards for teens/children (11-17 years old), and unused/unwrapped toys (Children 10 years and under) for families in our community. Gift cards in the denominations of $25 from local businesses work the best. Please remember that no food items will be collected this year.

We need your support more than ever! Many families are going through difficult times, and we are inviting our Greystone students to spread some cheer to them during this season of giving. Our Greystone deadline for all gift cards/donations and toys is Wednesday, December 7. Thank you so much for your help!

50/50 Draw

Friends of Greystone Society is excited to announce our 2022 50/50 Cash Raffle. FOGS fundraising is in support of many school initiatives. This year we are raising money for the construction of the Gaga Ball Pit and the replacement of the Gym mats to meet current standards with the new GCMS logo.

From Monday, Oct. 17 to Thursday, Dec 15 purchase your online tickets in support of FOGS! As always, we thank you for your support!
