Sept. 13, 2021: GCMS Inferno Weekly Update
It has been another wonderful week where we are adjusting to new routines and protocols. Having some of our extra-curricular teams start up again was wonderful to see. Here is our weekly update on what is happening at Greystone.
Meet the Teacher
Each grade has a time slot when they will make a short presentation to introduce themselves and welcome families to their class. In grades 5 & 6, each homeroom teacher will present. In grades 7-9, the homeroom “pairs” will present together (ex. 8A & 8H). We will also have our specialty teachers and support areas present in one block. During the session, teachers may share classroom expectations, the best ways to connect, regular communication, etc. If there is time, they may also take questions at the end of the sessions. One session may not be over at the start of the next session, but the essential information will be presented at the start of the session, so feel free to leave to attend another session if needed.

Counsellor’s Corner
We are very excited to have our guidance counsellor, Mrs. Janie Scheidl, working with our students this year. In that it has been a little while since we have had a counsellor, please read this information page to find out more about Mrs. Scheidl and the services we provide.
Bicycle Safety
We are noticing some students who are not wearing helmets while biking to and from school. This is a friendly reminder that it is the law in Alberta that anyone younger than 18 years must wear a helmet while biking. Helmets are encouraged for other wheeled transportation. If you cannot afford a helmet, please contact the office, as we have access to some donated helmets.
COVID Protocols
A full list of the current COVID protocols can be found in PSD’s Guidance for School Re-Entry Principal's Handbook.
One reminder about the protocols is that everyone needs to consult the COVID-19 Alberta Health Daily Checklist and if they answer YES to any question must stay home and follow the directions outlined.
For more information, including links to Alberta Government’s plans and guidance, visit our COVID-19 page on the PSD website.
AHS Covid-19 Vaccination Clinic
Grade 7-9 families should have received an email update on the AHS Covid-19 Vaccination Clinic that will be taking place at Greystone on Sept. 23. For more details, please read the program information sheet. The consent form can be found here. Students will not be immunized at school without consent (permission).
Stronger Together Newsletter September 2021
Parkland School Division is pleased to be able to help provide access to family supports in our community again this year. We will be sharing a newsletter once a month that is full of great opportunities for support and learning.
