September 5th, 2025 Release

Open House/Meet The Teacher Night

Our open house is next Thursday, September 11th, from 6:00-7:00 PM. You are welcome to join us and see the school and meet your child's teacher!

Cross Country

Cross Country Running starts Thursday, September 11. The first run will take place in Stony Plain at the old Memorial Composite site. Grades 5 will start running at 5:00 p.m. and continue through the age groups. Mrs. Lachman will be on site for the first 30 min to ensure everyone is set up but will then be heading back to Greystone for our Meet the Teacher evening. If your child is interested in participating in some or all of the six runs and missed the information meeting on Thursday please ask them to check in with Mme Wolitski, Mrs. McCulloch or Mrs. Lachman early next week. This is an awesome opportunity to get active! More information can be found here.

Terry Fox Run - FINISH IT!

GCMS is excited to celebrate the 45th Anniversary of the Terry Fox Run on Friday, September 19 in the afternoon.  Specific information will be coming home next week, in the meantime we would like to put out a call for volunteers to act as directional support along the route.  If you are interested in volunteering for the afternoon from about 12:30-3:00 PM, please email Mrs. McCulloch (lindsay.mcculloch@psd.ca).

Please return your child's Greystone Centennial Middle School 2025-26 Walking Field Trip Permission Form as this is what will allow him/her to participate in the walk/run off grounds.  These were handed out to students on the first couple days of school.

Grade 7-9 Options Courses

Our Grade 7-9 Students will be choosing their option courses on Monday, September 8 during one of the regular scheduled classes.  Please review the available courses with your child over the weekend.  The outline for what the schedule looks like as well as what is available is accessible on our website:

https://greystone.psd.ca/programs/grades-7-9-supplementary-courses

Please note: Many of these courses have fees connected to them.  When you are reviewing what is available, also take a look at the costs associated with these courses.  Course fees will be due 1 week after they are posted to powerschool, and payment is required in order for the student to continue in the course.

Message from our Counsellor

Welcome to a new school year.  The Greystone Counselling Department offers a variety of information and support regarding academic, personal, social and career related matters. Our full time school counsellor, Mrs. Janie Scheidl, M.Ed, CCC  works with individuals, small groups, staff and whole classes to deliver programming to meet the educational, personal, social and emotional needs of all students.  At GCMS, we have a referral policy where students can access brief counselling support on an as-need basis. Services are also provided for individual and family concerns and referrals to outside agencies can be accessed through the school counsellor. Please contact Janie Scheidl at 780-962-0357 or janie.scheidl@psd.ca for more information or to make a referral.

School Council Meeting

Our first school council meeting is set for September 24 at 6:30, with our Friends of Greystone Society (FOGS) meeting immediately following this meeting. All are welcome and we would love to have you join us.

Hot Lunch Program

Our hot lunch program will be ordered monthly. Our first round of ordering will be September 17-24, 2025, for an October 3rd start. Hot Lunch will be available every Friday, or the day before if there is no school. This document has the selling dates listed for the entire year. We will send out date reminders starting in September. We will be using local vendors (Pizza 73, Pretzel Shack, Bite to Eat, etc.). Volunteers are important to make this program a success. We will need 3 volunteers each day. When you order hot lunch for your child, there will be a box to check if you can volunteer.

Snacks will NOT be provided; we will only be providing the entree.

Hot Lunch Ordering

All orders can be completed online only. We accept order payments through PayPal. You can check out as a guest or by using your PayPal account (which includes credit card or debit online). NO PAPER ORDERS OR CASH will be accepted.
