Basketball Tryouts will start after fall break. Senior Boys tryout will be Monday and Wednesday after school. Senior Girls will be Tuesday and Thursday after school. All tryouts are from 3:45-5:15. More information can be found on the Greystone Athletics Facebook page.

Community Classroom

As you may be aware, Greystone Centennial Middle School offers many programs that support student learning. One such program is Community Classroom, which intentionally targets skills related to social-emotional learning. This year, Community Classroom will be offered for grades 5 and 6 during the last two blocks on Mondays, encompassing some functional literacy and numeracy skills throughout the activities. We will be running this program weekly, in which students will get the opportunity to learn and build skills in the areas of leadership, prosocial skill development, creativity, teamwork all the while tying in literacy and numeracy skills. Students will build confidence through intentional goal setting, collaborative game play, art activities, cooking and acts of kindness. Additionally, there will be approximately one day a month when we are excited to invite the Community Classroom students to bring a friend to an intentional games session. This is where the participants will be able to demonstrate, in a fun way, their social emotional skills that we have been working on in the weekly sessions. Perhaps your child is a participant in this program or gets invited one week to play games in a supported small group, all the while demonstrating positive peer play! If you have any questions about this program, please contact Ali White at the school.

Career Fair - UPDATE

Due to the Grade 9 Quebec trip, we have shifted our CAREER FAIR to Tuesday, January 28th from 9:30-12:30. Greystone’s Career Fair Committee is asking parents, community members and friends to come in and speak about their career choice and give students an insight to a career that they may have never considered or already have an interest in and want to find out more.

If you would be interested in being one of our presenters for the day please email Janie Scheidl at janie.scheidl@psd.ca with your name, career, a brief description of what you do, and a phone number at which you can be contacted.  You may also leave a message with reception in the general office.  If you are able to volunteer your time, we would be so grateful.  Refreshments will be provided.
