September 19th, 2025 Release

School Council/FOGS

Our school council is looking for a president!!  We have a very dedicated group of parents that meet the fourth Wednesday of each month for about an hour.  Consider attending our first meeting - Wednesday, September 24 from 6:30-7:30 in our Library!  You do not need to be able to attend every month to be a part of the council.  We look forward to seeing you there! We are looking for someone to take on the role of School Council Chair for 2025-2026, and an election will be held during this meeting.

Breakfast Program

GCMS breakfast program is up and running!  This program is open to all students who require a little something first thing in the morning.  We are hoping to set up a second toast station in our blue pod for the year, but need volunteers to help monitor the station.  If you are available from 8:30-9:10 during the week, and would like to help with our breakfast program please contact Mrs. McCulloch (lindsay.mcculloch@psd.ca) or Kim Buchanan (kmillisbuchanan@gmail.com)

WOW Greystone - our school raised $810 Total!

Thank you for all the donations, and the wonderful school wide event today.  We are so impressed with the commitment from our students to give back to such a great cause and represent GCMS well in the community.  

Grade 7-9 Options Courses

Fees are now updated on powerschool - please arrange payment by the Friday, September 26 due date. Payment options include:

  • Online through PowerSchool - you must log in on a computer to access fees they will not show up on the app.  PowerSchool accepts typically Credit Card and Visa Debit.
  • Cash turned into the office
  • Check turned into the office - made payable to Parkland School Division. 

If you are unable to make the deadline, but would be interested in making payments, please contact Mrs. Robinson in the office - she will assist you.

No Skip the Dishes/Uber Eats, Etc

Just a reminder that we do not allow Skip the Dishes or other similar food delivery programs. While we understand the convenience of using these companies, we do not have the office staff capacity to ensure deliveries get to the hands of all the students. If you would like to drop off take out food for your child, please pre-label it or label it in the office as students are expected to come pick it up.

Yearbook Pick Up

Yearbooks that were ordered can be picked up in the office during the school day. If you would like a yearbook for your child, they can be purchased for $30 either by cash, cheque, or by adding the fee on PowerSchool. Contact the office if you would like the fee added to PowerSchool.

Plant Clippings - repeat

Mrs. Nicholls is looking for plant clippings to grow in our Blue Pod Tower Garden! If you have any extras to share, please bring them to Room 192 in the Blue Pod. We already have plenty of Pothos and Spider plants, so we’d love some variety.  

Hot Lunch Program - repeat

Our hot lunch program will be ordered monthly. Our first round of ordering will be September 17-24, 2025, for an October 3rd start. Hot Lunch will be available every Friday, or the day before if there is no school. This document has the selling dates listed for the entire year. We will send out date reminders starting in September. We will be using local vendors (Pizza 73, Pretzel Shack, Bite to Eat, etc.). Volunteers are important to make this program a success. We will need 3 volunteers each day. When you order hot lunch for your child, there will be a box to check if you can volunteer. 

Snacks will NOT be provided; we will only be providing the entree. 

Hot Lunch Ordering

All orders can be completed online only. We accept order payments through PayPal. You can check out as a guest or by using your PayPal account (which includes credit card or debit online). NO PAPER ORDERS OR CASH will be accepted.

  1. Click on: Click here to register. 
  1. School access code: GCHL (capital letters) 
  1. Set up your user ID and password. 
  1. Follow the online instructions to order. (You do NOT need to have a PayPal account to pay online. You can pay by credit card without creating a PayPal account. This needs to be done on a computer as opposed to a mobile device.) 

Should your child be away on a hot lunch day that you have paid for, we will NOT provide a refund.  

In the event buses are cancelled, hot lunch will be delivered to the school. Please contact the hot lunch co-ordinator to make alternate arrangements if your child is not at school. 

If there is a class event (e.g., fieldtrip) scheduled after hot lunches have been ordered, alternate arrangements will be made to ensure the students will still receive the ordered lunch.
